The Learning Commons opened in the Library extension on 11 September 2017 and was officially named “Florence and Lipton Chuang Learning Commons” in appreciation of a generous donation to the Library. The Learning Commons provides a supportive, student-centered learning environment at the Caritas Institute of Higher Education (CIHE) campus.
This facility has an area of about 1,600 square metres and a seating capacity of around 400, featuring an advanced e-learning laboratory, four group discussion rooms equipped with audio-visual tools, quiet study areas, flexible seat combinations and large open spaces for leisure reading and self-study purposes. Wireless (WiFi) network connectivity as well as colour and black/white printing and copying services are available.
A broad range of other services will be provided to support individual and self-paced learning and a great variety of activities will be organized to enhance students’ learning experience and develop their research skills.
