Library Service Updates (October 2021)

Library User Survey 2021 – Prize Presentation Ceremony

To reward users for participating in the Library User Survey 2021, we conducted a lucky draw in late May and held the prize presentation ceremony where more than 50 gifts sponsored by publishers and vendors were given to the prize winners.

1st 2nd 3rd

Prizes presented by Prof. Annie Bligh (Provost), Mr. Manhoe Chan (Vice-President, Resources and Finance) and Ms. Charlotte Wong (Librarian)

From March to April 2021, we received over 900 completed survey forms from both staff and students. Their comments and suggestions are encouraging and provide us with the impetus to continually enhance our services, resources and facilities to better serve the learning, teaching and research needs of the CIHE/CBCC community. For survey details, please refer to Results of User Survey.

E-Payment Service

To offer greater convenience to users, the Library accepts Octopus payment for fines starting from October 2021. You can complete the transactions at the Circulation Counter.

Track Lighting at the CBCC Library

To provide you with a well-lit reading environment, the Library has carried out lighting enhancement work in the spacious study area at the CBCC Library. Right now, track lighting with a higher light intensity has been mounted to the walls to brighten up the whole area. You are now able to study comfortably with good ambient lighting.

Framed Wall Paintings and Photos Collection

We have recently hung on wall a series of eye-catching paintings and photos facing the entrance to the CIHE Learning Commons and CBCC Circulation Counter. Thanks to the generous donors, these paintings and photos vividly portray thematic objects such as Chinese arts and crafts, ceramics and stylish accessories with a perfect blend of rich colours.

If you feel tired while studying in the Library, take a look at these paintings and photos. This may help you relax, clear your mind and perhaps find new inspiration for your work.

New Computing and Printing Facilities

As there is a growing demand for laptop loans service, we have added more MacBooks for loan on a first-come, first-served basis. We also provide notebook computers and iPads for collaborative study and individual use within the Library. For loan details, please refer to Laptop / MacBook Loans.

Besides, all multi-function printers / photocopiers in the Library have been upgraded to new models. An additional printer has also been installed to meet the increasing needs of users.

When you are writing a research paper, you must acknowledge the sources of information you have used. This practice of referencing is an integral part of academic writing at higher education level.

To assist you in managing bibliographical references and citing properly, the Library offers EndNote 20, the latest version of the reference management software, for free download. To learn how to use the software, please browse the instructions on the Library Guides or join our EndNote training workshops which will be held soon. Stay tuned!
